What kind of guitar should I buy?

It depends on what you want to accomplish.

Nylon string guitars are physically the easiest to play among acoustic guitars. For beginners, the nylon is perfect. The electric is also very easy to play. The difficulty lies with the steel string acoustic. It takes more left hand strength to press on the fret board.

If you’re interested in playing rhythm guitar and lead, the electric is best for you. If you plan on accompanying with vocal or play contemporary finger-style then the steel acoustic is a good choice. It also is needed in most bands at some point, but not as much as the electric. If you discover you enjoy playing classical music, the nylon string is best for solo performances.
